Chatty Cathy

Yes my friends, we have ourselves a little Chatty Cathy Bailey! I swear that little girl never stops talking. Here are just some of the things that could be overheard in our house last night.

Bailey: Mommy, are you ready?

Me: Sure, Bailey. Are you ready?

Bailey: I'm ready!

Me: What are we ready for?

Bailey: I dunno.

Bailey: Mommy.

Me: What?

Bailey: Mommy.

Me: What, dear?

Bailey: Mommy.

Me: Bailey.

Bailey: Mommy.

Me: What can I do for you Bailey.

Bailey: Hi mommy!

Random phrases from Bailey last night:

Watch it, watch it, watch it mommy! Watch it spin around! (Talking about the microwave)

I see mommy's name tag. SpongeBob has name tag too.

Bailey Grace too big. (Her response when I asked her to pick something up)

Uh-oh mommy. Baby fall down. I help her!

Bailey Grace messy. Mommy clean you up.

I remember the day when I couldn't wait for her to say her first word, and now...

Big Girl Bed

Yesterday we finally made the transition into Bailey's "big girl" bed. We took the front of her crib off so it now resembles a day bed. I wish I had had a video camera when Nick pulled the front railing off and she saw the bed for the first time...her eyes got really big and wide and her mouth dropped open. She looked at me, as if asking if it was ok to go get in it, and when she got my approval she went and climbed in it and had the biggest grin on her face. In fact, she really didn't want to get out of it!! Nap time was our first trial run to see how she would do. We laid pillows down next to it in case she were to roll out of bed. She did great! Took as long a nap as normal, and when I went into her room after she woke up, she was still in her bed.

Then came bed time. She crawled right in and snuggled up to her blankie and told us good night and sweet dreams. Nick checked on her before we went to bed and she was all curled up in a little ball in the middle of the bed.

Then at some point last night she started crying. I could tell it was either the, something scared me or something's wrong, cry. I turned on the hall light and barely opened the door to peek in. She wasn't in her bed, she wasn't on the floor. At this moment I kind of started to panic. I could hear her crying but I couldn't see her. "Bailey, where are you?" And then I saw her...crawling out from underneath the bed!!! I couldn't help but just laugh out loud! I asked her why she was sleeping under her bed and she just said "I dunno." She had even taken her blankie under there with her. I held her for a minute and asked if she wanted to be rocked and she said "No. Back to bed." So she crawled back into bed and I covered her up and told her good night for the second time last evening. I laughed all the way back to bed and had to wake Nick up to tell him what happened.

This morning when I went in she was sleeping on the floor in front of her closet. This could be an interesting week getting used to the big girl bed. I just love that silly girl!!!

Happy (Late) Fall!!

Yesterday was the first day official day of Fall, and I donned my silver pumpkin pin in honor of the changing season. Yes, I know I'm only 25, but I love fall, and pins, and other "old woman" things...I can't help it! I love pretty much everything there is about Fall. I love the color of the leaves, I love the slight nip in the air in the evenings, I love pumpkins, I love Halloween, I love mums and scarecrows...I love it all! This time of the year really makes me long for my dream land. Here's what I see when I close my eyes...
A long driveway winding up to this house,

which would be situated on over five acres of gently rolling land. From the back porch you could overlook the wooded areas surrounding the home, with all the trees showcasing their beautiful red and yellow leaves. At the rear of the property would the be the stream flowing by. I can envision a large Fall themed party, with lots of kids (if my friends ever decide to have kids!!) running around. There would lots of pumpkin carving taking place, a large bonfire to roast marshmallows and maybe even some old fashioned bobbing for apples. Yes, this is what I envision every year about this time.

But until that happens, I will have to enjoy Fall in my little piece of the world. One place I always enjoy going, but especially in the Fall, is Evan's Orchard. We went out to their apple festival a couple of week's ago and had a great time. We spent a lot of time sliding and swinging, then had a great lunch and ended the day with a long walk around the orchard picking apples.

Bailey and Nick checking out the bees.

"Hey goat!"

Happy Fall!!!!

Dancing Fool

Last weekend we headed out to the wedding of my cousin Nancy and her now husband, Bobby. It was a beautiful ceremony and we had a great time at the reception. Bailey especially enjoyed the dance floor! In fact, she threw a fit when we had to remove her from it, you know, so the bride could dance with her father and all those other important dances that Bailey felt she needed to be a part of. Here's a video from the evening.

Bailey so wanted my nephew Quentin (referred to as Q in the video) to come dance with her, but he wasn't having any part of it. Unfortunately my camera died before the good stuff started. Later she decided to flash people and she kept bending over and looking up her own dress...silly girl! Sorry you can hear me talking through most of the video!

And the happy couple! (I don't know why my camera took such bad pictures!!)

Labor Day Fun

We had a great labor day weekend!! I really think it should be a law that we should all get at least one, three day weekend each month...just a thought.
We had a cook out Saturday and just had a good time hanging out in the back yard with friends,
playing with homemade play dough
coloring
throwing the football
playing with the soccer ball
and just plain relaxing and goofing off!
And of course no cook out would be complete without some good food...or at least not with our crew. Nick was the grill master making some burgers, brats and kabobs. For dessert I made a chocolate, peanut butter cream pie. It was good, but really rich! It had an Oreo cookie crust, peanut butter cream filling and then a layer of chocolate goodness on top. This came from my big cookbook full of pie recipes, so if you're interested in it, let me know and I'll take the time to post it...it was super easy to make! And a special thank you must go out to Aunt Brittany, who is always the photographer for our outings!!

Comic Relief

After a crazy day, I'm so thankful I have this little girl to add some comic relief to my life!
