A Dose of Reality

Just thought I'd share a little dose of reality from the Maxwell house.

Girls are napping and I'm working. And here's what's around me.

Let's see what all is going on in this shot, shall we?

1. Towels that need to be put up.
2. Clean diapers that need to be put up.
3. Baby toy.
4. Big bouncy ball.
5. Video game(ish).
6. Nick's tie.
7. Spastic dog that is just waiting for someone...anyone...to walk past the door so he can bark.
8. Clothes hamper with clean diaper pail liner.

And of course,
laptop open with work emails looming in front of me.

And because the girls are sleeping
some trash TV.

And that's my little dose of reality for this Tuesday. What was your reality today?

There's a Giraffe on Your Back!

"Hey Peyton."

"Yeah mom?"
"Did you know you have a little friend on your back?"

"Yeah, it's just Sophie. I gnaw on her all day long, so I thought I'd give her a break and let her take in the sights. Since all she usually sees is the inside of my mouth!"
"Okay, just wanted to make sure you knew she was up there."

"I just love my giraffe friend!"
I'm still not sure how this happened. When I left the room Peyton was on her back chewing away on Sophie's ears. Then Bailey starts cracking up telling me that Sophie was on Peyton's back. Sure enough, that's where she was! She really does love her Sophie.

Miss Crafty Pants

My girl Bailey L-O-V-E-S crafts! Whether it's coloring, painting or making something, she just loves it. I try to find new fun crafty things that we can do together to flex her artistic muscles. I found this idea a while back and just kept forgetting to buy food coloring. After finally picking some up at the store on Sunday, I knew we'd be doing this on my next work at home day.

After we got back from buying school supplies (does anyone else feel like they live at Wal-Mart??) I set up everything we would need. Bailey was so excited about the food coloring, it reminded her of coloring eggs at Easter.
This craft was great because there was little instruction and very easy for her to do by herself.

Essentially, make a design on card stock with the glue and then cover the glue with salt.

Using a dropper, place a small drop of the colored water on the salt covered glue, and watch the color spread throughout the design!

It was a really neat project and Bailey really enjoyed it. Not to mention cheap and very easy!

Long Lost - The Pioneer Woman

Is anyone else out there bad about taking tons of pictures with your digital camera and then just letting them sit there? In a kind of picture purgatory? I rarely ever print pictures, they usually just end up saved to a folder on my computer and then some are lucky enough to be uploaded here. And the rest just sit on my camera, hoping to having a permanent home, somewhere. And after a while, I actually forget what pictures I still have on the memory card. Which is what happened with these photos! In a moment of "There are way too many pictures on this card and I can't take it anymore!" I found these. Which really, I can't believe I never shared. But as you can tell, I was quite pregnant, maybe towards the end of my 8th month, I really don't remember. Anyway, things were kind of hectic then and I never got around to sharing my photos of...The Pioneer Woman!

She came to Cincinnati for her book tour and my friend Shana and I headed up to meet her. Aside from my GPS lady having a major fail in Cincinnati, we had a great time! Lots of girl talk and meeting The Pioneer Woman equals a great night in my book!
