Okay, I could spend time apologizing for how long it's been since I've blogged, but I think I'll just jump right in and pretend I've not been neglecting my little slice of the Internet world.
On June 11th, we hit the road and embarked on our first real family vacation since Bailey was born. In fact, we really hadn't been on vacation since our honeymoon, and almost 4 years is too long for this girl to go without a little beach in her life! Our destination, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. I was very nervous for the car ride since Bailey had never been on a car trip that lasted more than 5 hours, and this one was about 11. I think she is a born traveler! She did amazing! We left at about 11:00 pm Friday night and had kept her up thinking she would pass out in the car. Much to our surprise though, she only ended up sleeping a total of maybe 3-4 hours, but she was in a good mood nearly the entire trip! We only had one wet pull-up on the way down and that was when she was sleeping and none on the way home. And on the way home she only managed to sleep about 10 minutes, but again, she was in a great mood!
We made great time on the way down there and arrived way before they had our house ready. The lady kindly told me where the public beach access was so we would have something to do while we waited. And while I might have exaggerated a little while mentioning I had a very whiny toddler in the car, it did cause her to bump us up to the first of the line to get cleaned so we could check in!
We found the access
and got Bailey changed into her bathing suit and hit the sand.
Bailey was really excited at first, but then didn't so much care for the sand. I think it's the whole ground not feeling firm under her feet that got her. It didn't help that she was going on little sleep either. She did enjoy digging and playing in the sand though. Nick decided to take her into the ocean...
We decided to go grab some lunch while we continued to wait on our house. I looked over at Bailey while she was eating and she almost fell over asleep several different times while munching on some french fries. When I asked her if she wanted to come sit on my lap she nearly leaped into my arms! She fell asleep almost as soon as her little head hit my shoulder. Nick offered to lay her down on the booth, but I never get to hold her while sleeps anymore and I wasn't about to miss the chance.
Once we were finally able to check in we all crashed and took a 3 hour nap!
No one felt like cooking that night so we headed to Water Color (which I'm totally in love with now!) and ate at The Taco Bar. It was amazing!! Very pricey, most things on the beach are, but great fresh food. They probably had some of the best salsa and queso dip I've ever had. And the Sangria...oh, the Sangria. It was wonderful!
Next up in the Beach, Baby! series...a tale of all the wildlife we encountered on our trip, and of course more beachy photos!

Oh I LOVE Watercolor! That is where I am right now :) My family built a vacation home here a few years ago and it is probably my favorite place on earth. Really you cant go wrong with anywhere on 30A~! Cant wait to see the rest of your vacation photos!
Yay! It's good to have you back. I've been wondering about you but I knew you must be okay since you had still been posting comments.
Your beach trip sounds wonderful! We went to this area last year and had a great time. The drive down is a bit long and shady but it sounds like Bailey was a champ and cooperated.
I love that picture of the two of you. There's nothing better than holding a sleeping baby... no matter how big :)
